If you are not bringing a 4WD vehicle to the island but you would like to go exploring while you are here we have access to a daily rental service located on the island.

With plenty of free activities on offer it’s hard to know what to do first! Tangalooma Island Resort has a vast selection of free activities for you to enjoy.

Here are some of the free activities in the resort:

Tangalooma Beach

Tangalooma Beach was named the World's Best Beach to See Nature by Lonely Planet in 2024 and it's easy to see why. The beach is sheltered from the ocean providing very calm conditions for visitors to safely enjoy beach activities and the abundant marine life. The Tangalooma Wrecks are a short 15 minute walk along the beach from Villa 47 and is a must see free attraction with various other paid activities that can be booked through the resort.

Swimming Pools

Kick back and enjoy the day sitting by the resort pools at Tangalooma Island Resort. There are 2 pools for resort guests, and a private pool for Deep Blue Apartments.

Discover the world of Dolphins

Learn all about the Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Feeding Program, the dolphins characteristics, family groups and wild dolphin behaviour by an Eco Ranger.

Helicopter Workshop

Learn how the helicopter flies and meet the pilot! Great photo opportunity and lots of fun for the kids. Meet at the Helicopter Pad near the jetty.

Kids Playground

Famously known as the "Playground by the beach", the Tangalooma Playground is a great place to let the little ones burn off some energy

Kookaburra Feeding

Ever wanted to learn more about this iconic Australian bird and meet one (or several!) up close? Join our Eco Rangers for the daily Kookaburra feeding, just meet outside The Eco Centre!

Old Whaling Station Tours

Learn how the town of Tangalooma evolved from the devastating exploitation of whales, to becoming the home of sustainable whale watch tourism and conservation.

Pelican Feeding & Sea Bird Talk

Every morning Tangalooma's Eco Rangers feed the Australian Pelicans, the largest of the pelican species from the Tangalooma Jetty.

Sports Activity Equipment Hire

Hire a range of sporting equipment to use on Tangalooma Island Resort. Perfect for some relaxed fun with the family, there is a range of equipment available to use around the resort. Cash deposits may be required when hiring

Squash Court

Enjoy some fitness with Squash! Grab a mate (or 3) for some fitness fun in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball.

Tennis Court

Wanting to keep fit while you're on holiday? Grab some rackets and tennis balls and head over to the Tangalooma tennis courts with your friends and let the games begin!

Join us for a unique and captivating evening of discovery aboard our purpose-built boat to the world-famous Tangalooma Wrecks.

Sunset Cruise

There are only a few locations on the east coast of Australia where you can watch the sunset over the water, and Tangalooma is one of them. Relax with music and commentary.

Blue Lagoon Safari Bus Tour

This unique tour will take you to the Blue Lagoon, located on the eastern side of the island. Covering forty-two hectares, it is one of the largest freshwater lakes on the island.
